Modeling in vibroacoustics

This research concentrates on virtual prototyping of vibroacoustic problems. The case study is the engine-transmission unit in a vehicle, with a special focus on bolted assemblies. An assembly is the combination of monolith components that are joined together. The joint area is a vulnerable point in structural dynamics and has to be carefully investigated. Therefore, the vibroacoustic analysis of such complex structures must be done in two parts: ‘component’ and ‘assembly’. For each part, it is necessary to find a simplified model that is computationally inexpensive while providing sufficiently accurate results. Experimental tests are constantly performed to verify the numerical models and the proposed method.
