Doctoral Workshop at Karlsruhe

The fourth workshop of the doctoral college, organized by Sören Hohmann, Peter Betsch and their teams took place from 11 to 13 October 2023 at KIT, Karlsruhe, Germany.

Summary

25 PhD students and 17 senior researchers gathered in the rooms of the International Department, directly at the Schlossplatz, with a beautiful view on the castle. The program consisted of three talks by senior researchers in the morning, followed by a mix of 11 doctoral presentations and interactive sessions. Further highlights were the lab tour giving a lot of insight in the work a the Institute of Control Systems (IRS) and the talk on "Competition or cooperation? Technology as a factor of European integration in historical perspective" by Markus Popplow (KIT Department of History).

Bowling on Wednesday evening and a vegetarian diner at Kulturküche in one of the oldest Karlsruhe buildings completed the social program.

8 PhD students obtained mobility support (200 €) for cross-border travel to the workshop from the infrastructure funds of the DFH.

Preparation of interactive sessions
