Computer lab courses in winter and summer semester
Computational Thermo-Fluid Dynamics
In order to understand the working principles of complex simulation programs from scratch, custom programs are implemented in PYTHON. So you can already solve fairly complex problems as they occur in practice.
(Language: English)
Simulation of Thermo-Fluids with Open Source Tools
You learn how to use the open source CFD toolbox OpenFOAM for simulation of a variety of thermo-fluiddynamic phenomena. You exploit the benefits of open source software to build your own solver, or modify existing models. At the end of the term, you work in a small team on an individual project.
(Language: English)
Computational Flow Stability and Analysis
You learn advanced methods to solve large linear systems or eigenvalue problems stemming from linear analysis or optimization problems of realistic systems. No longer will LAPACK, PETSc, or SLEPc remain black boxes to you! Once the theoretical knowledge is aqcuired, you learn how to efficiently implent solvers based on these librairies in PYTHON
Projektseminar
Numerical Thermofluid Dynamics Project Seminar
This project seminar may be taken as an alternative to an industrial internship. During the course, students will (further) develop a numerical solver intended for use in simulating acoustics in combustion chambers. The project seminar is open to both students in the Bachelor’s program in Mechanical Engineering and students in the Bachelor’s program in Aerospace Engineering.
During the seminar, students are supported by the Center for Key Competencies and trained in teamwork.
