5th Symposium of the Bavarian Hydrogen Center

Chemical hydrogen storage technology as a contribution to transition to renewable energy sources

From July 20th to 21st, 2016 the final symposium of the Bavarian Hydrogen Centers took place in Waischenfeld in Franconia at Fraunhofer Research Campus. Over 5 years of intense research on a contribution to the transition to renewable energy sources in Bavaria were conducted by the BHC. The main topic was hydrogen: the regenerative generation, the development of chemical hydrogen storage technologies (LOHC) and the use of hydrogen for energy generation. Three graduate students from the Institute of Thermodynamics (TD) presented their results on hydrogen combustion in gas turbines and fluid mechanics during the hydrogenation and dehydrogenation process.

Besides scienctific news there was also a lot to learn about the historic town of Waischenfeld on a city tour and of course Franconian beer and Franconian bratwurst could not miss at the evening barbecue and campfire event.
