Computational Fluid Dynamics

UP

In our methodical developments, we aim at

  • discontinuous Galerkin methods and
  • extended and cut finite element methods (XFEM and CutFEM).

These methods are applied in the following contexts:

  • incompressible flows,
  • turbulent flows,
  • multiphase flows,
  • fluid-structure interaction,
  • thermo-fluid-structure interaction,
  • transport equations, and
  • variable-density flow.

The methods developed in our research on computational fluid dynamics are used for a variety of applications such as:

  • biofilms,
  • cavitation,
  • chemically-reacting flows,
  • combustion,
  • elasto-flexible morphing wing,
  • electrochemical power sources (batteries, fuel cells),
  • electrodeposition of metals,
  • electroforming of rocket combustion chambers, and
  • respiratory system.
