Manfred Hirschvogel Prize 2016

Manfred-Hirschvogel Price Went to Dr.-Ing. Manuel Lorenz

This year, the Manfred-Hirschvogel price went to Dr.-Ing. Manuel Lorenz for his dissertation "Reduction of Heating Loads and Interior Window Fogging in Vehicles". He During his work he developed a CFD model of the airflow, a heat transfer model of the solid cabin parts, the Fiala Physiological Comfort (FPC) model and a new model for the prediction of window fogging. The new model is validated by a new measurement technique, which was established and validated to measure the contact angle of single droplets and droplet arrays from perpendicularly above during the condensation and evaporation process. The price is dedicated to the life’s work of Dr. Manfred Hirschvogel and is rewarded with 5000 EUR. It is open to all Ph.D. candidates from all leading Technical Universities in Germany (Aachen, Berlin, Braunschweig, Darmstadt, Dresden, Hannover, Karlsruhe, Munich und Stuttgart).
