Willy Messerschmitt Prize 2016

Willy Messerschmitt Price 2016 goes to Dr.-Ing. Thomas Fiala

After 2008 (Dr.-Ing. Jutta Pieringer) and 2013 (Dr.-Ing. Jannis Gikadi) the Willy Messerschmidt Price go this year to Dr.-Ing. Thomas Fiala for his dissertation "Radiation from High Pressure Hydrogen-Oxygen Flames and its Use in Assessing Rocket Combustion Instability". In his dissertation Dr. Fiala investigates numerically as well as experimentally the radiation of non-premixed hydrogen-oxygen flames at elevated pressure. Based on these results published models are compared with each other and new methods are developed.

The price is rewarded with 5000 EUR and goes back to Prof. Willy Messerschmitt (1898-1978), who dedicated his life to the development, design and application of High-Perfomance Aircrafts.
