Remarkable Publication Success of the Institute of Thermodynamics

Success rate has risen to more than 75%!

The Gas Turbine Conference (TurboExpo) of the International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) is the outstanding event for all researchers dealing with turbomachinery. The number of publications has been above 1000 for several years. All these publications were admitted to the conference only after a review by at least three experts and only the best 20-25% of these publications are published in ASME's Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power during the year following the conference.

This year, the Chair of Thermodynamics had an outstanding success: Meanwhile 10 out of 13 of the conference publications published at TurboExpo 2016 in Seoul have been published in ASME's Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power. These are over 75%, more than three times the average success rate. In detail, the following publications have been selected by the reviewers for journal publication:

  • Stefan Bauer, Balbina Hampel, Thomas Sattelmayer: Operability Limits af Tubular Injectors With Vortex Generators For A Hydrogen Fuelled Recuperated 100KW Class Gas Turbine
  • Frederik M. Berger, Tobias Hummel, Michael Hertweck, Jan Kaufmann, Bruno Schuermans, Thomas Sattelmayer: High-Frequency Thermoacoustic Modulation Mechanisms in Swirl-Stabilized Gas Turbine Combustors—Part I: Experimental Investigation of Local Flame Response
  • Vera Hoferichter, Christoph Hirsch, Thomas Sattelmayer: Prediction of Confined Flame Flashback Limits Using Boundary Layer Separation Theory
  • Tobias Hummel, Frederik Berger, Michael Hertweck, Bruno Schuermans, Thomas Sattelmayer: High-Frequency Thermoacoustic Modulation Mechanisms in Swirl-Stabilized Gas Turbine Combustors—Part II: Modeling and Analysis
  • Tobias Hummel, Klaus Hammer, Pedro Romero, Bruno Schuermans, Thomas Sattelmayer: Low-Order Modeling of Nonlinear High-Frequency Transversal Thermoacoustic Oscillations in Gas Turbine Combustors
  • Stephan Lellek, Christoph Barfuß, Thomas Sattelmayer: Experimental Study of the Interaction of Water Sprays With Swirling Premixed Natural Gas Flames
  • Moritz Schulze, Tobias Hummel, Noah Klarmann, Frederik Berger, Bruno Schuermans, Thomas Sattelmayer: Linearized Euler Equations for the Prediction of Linear High- Frequency Stability in Gas Turbine Combustors
