Dr. Francesc Verdugo was awarded with the "ECCOMAS PhD Award 2013" for the best thesis in computational methods in applied sciences and engineering in Europe for his doctoral work carried out at the Laboratori de Càlcul Numèric (LaCàN), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).
