Prof. Wen, Zhongqi Liu and Yan Yan Presented Research at IHTC18 conference
During the conference, Yan Yan presented her work titled “Droplet Dynamics and Heat Transfer Analysis upon Impact onto a Transparent Heating Surface.” By combining synchronized high-speed infrared thermography with side- and bottom-view visualization, her study investigated droplet dynamics and transient interfacial heat transfer under different boiling regimes.
Zhongqi Liu presented his research on surface temperature measurements using temperature-sensitive paints for phase-change heat transfer. The developed technique enables transient temperature distributions to be captured with high temporal and spatial resolution, providing a new approach for studying dynamic processes such as droplet impact and boiling.
Together with Prof. Wen, Yan Yan and Zhongqi Liu exchanged their research with scholars from around the world and received valuable feedback and new ideas for improving their work. They also attended plenary lectures and technical sessions on topics, particularly including chip thermal management, data center cooling, boiling, evaporation, and phase-change heat transfer. IHTC18 provided an excellent opportunity to learn about emerging research directions and engage with the international heat-transfer community.
Following IHTC18, Yan Yan and Zhongqi Liu visited the research groups of Prof. Gherhardt Ribatski and Prof. Arthur V. S. Oliveira at the São Carlos School of Engineering, University of São Paulo (USP), in São Carlos, Brazil. During the visit, they toured the laboratories and learned about the ongoing experimental research and facilities of both groups. Prof. Ribatski’s group focuses on boiling and phase-change heat transfer, with particular interest in understanding the underlying heat-transfer mechanisms and developing advanced liquid film measurement technologies. Prof. Oliveira’s group conducts research on droplet impact and heat transfer on heated surfaces.
Yan Yan and Zhongqi Liu also gave research presentations introducing their recent work and exchanged ideas with the professors and group members on experimental techniques, measurement methods, and heat-transfer phenomena. The discussions provided valuable insights into their ongoing research and opened up new perspectives for future studies.
