Wolfgang A. Wall, director of the Institute for Computational Mechanics, received the "Solid Mechanics Fellow" award of EUROMECH, the European Mechanics Society. This award, one of the highest awards for Mechanics in Europe, is given to only one scientist per year from the huge areas of solid and structural mechanics, biomechanics and biophysics, material mechanics etc. As the certificate states Professor Wall received the award "For his seminal contributions to the computational modeling of challenging solid mechanics and multi-physics scenarios, including fluid-structure interaction, contact, biophysics and biomedical problems." The award was presented during a special ceremony of the large European Solid Mechanics Conference in Bologna by the chairman of the award committee, Professor Dick van Campen from TU Eindhoven.
