Philipp Brokof presents at EuroMech 668
02.07.2026
On 2 July 2026, Philipp Brokof presented his recent work at the EUROMECH Colloquium 668 – Coherent Structures in Multiphysics Flows: Modelling, Control and Interpretation in Berlin. The colloquium featured researchers from academia and industry working on coherent structures, reduced-order modelling, and multiphysics flow phenomena.
In his presentation, "Flow oscillators vs. amplifiers in thermoacoustic instabilities – a global weakly nonlinear approach", Philipp introduced a weakly nonlinear framework to investigate the interaction between hydrodynamic wake dynamics and thermoacoustic oscillations. The work provides new insights into the role of flow structures as either oscillators or amplifiers and improves our understanding of the mechanisms governing thermoacoustic instabilities in combustors.
The presentation initiated valuable discussions with experts from the fluid mechanics and thermoacoustics communities, providing new perspectives for our ongoing research on combustion instabilities.
