Note: The registration is organized with tumonline and compulsory. The date of registrations provides as ordering criteria (first come first serve). The attendance of the Einführungsveranstaltung at 16.10.2013 at 10.00 o'clock is compulsory.

Objectives

At the end of the module students are able to analyse a new problem regarding separate work packages. The students are able to apply their existing knowledge and to learn new knowledge. The student creates a solution within a small working group regarding the abilities and interests of the members. The student is able to evaluate the results of the working group within a presentation.

Description

In the Combustion Technology Lab a current topic of the ongoing research at the chair is worked on. Because of this, there is a fundamental difference between a classical lab doing every time the same predefined experiments. The Students work on their own on a topic whereas their adviser is always there for technical assistance and professional advice.

Thermodynamik 1 (recommended), Wärmetransportphänomene (recommended), Fluidmechanik 1 (recommended)

Teaching and learning methods

In the preliminary talk the participants are assigned to the tasks. There also the script is distributed where the tasks, basics and important rules for the lab course are written. Every group make their own fixed, weekly appointment where progresses are presented, tasks are distributed and the overall progresses is reported. The work packages are handled by the students on their own during the week. The supervisors attend every meeting and on appointment the answers questions and discuss problems concerning the project. Every meeting is managed by a group member, including moderation and agenda. The results are documented in a report and are presented in the end of the lab to the other groups.

Examination

The rating contains the cooperation and two written exams during the term. Further the documentation and the final presentation are also rated. So in total there are five quantifying components.
