Water jet and spray dynamics
We use our sharp-interface method to deal with a wide range of multi-phase flows. A major topic is the shock-bubble-interaction. Due to the sharp representation of the interface, deformations can be clearly tracked and, on- and off-interface phenomens can be clearly distinguished unlike in case of a smeard interface. Hence only sharp interface models allow to differ between primary and secondary baroclinic vorticity production in shock bubble interaction. Switching on and off the interface friction made it possible the invastigate the importance of the slip-line effect for vorticity production .
In the field of multi-phase flows with phase change we concentrate on vapor-water mixtures . The collapse of cavitation bubbles in the free field and close to a solid wall is one of our major topics.
We also investigate in bubble oscillations with very high initial pressure differences where conservation is essential. Different accommodation coefficients for the evaporation or condensation are compared to each other.
